Alice Ruhweza is President of AGRA, where she leads efforts to transform agrifood systems for people, planet, prosperity, and peace across Africa and globally. A global thought leader with nearly 30 years of experience, she has shaped international policy and practice at the intersection of development, environment, and sustainability.
Previously, Alice was Senior Director for Global Policy Influence and Engagement at WWF International and WWF Africa Regional Director, overseeing programs in 13 countries and a team of 600 staff. She has also held senior leadership roles at Conservation International and the United Nations Development Programme, mobilizing over US$1 billion in finance for climate action, sustainable development, and nature-based solutions.
Alice holds degrees in Economics and has completed executive leadership programs at Harvard Kennedy School, IMD, and Oxford University. She serves on global advisory bodies including the World Economic Forum’s Stewards of Food Systems and Global Future Council on the Future of Nature and Security, and is an International UN Gender Champion. Recognized among the Top 100 Climate Leaders of 2025 and Top 50 African Leaders of 2024, she is a passionate advocate for sustainable development, equity, and inclusive leadership.
